Community Game: Long Live the Queen IX

What classes should Fatal take during Week 7?

The players begin PMing each other and come to me with a finalized decision concerning classes.

How mysterious. Okay. Result: You now have Ciphering 17.47 and Foreign Intelligence 33.10. You learn, "The domain of Shanjia, across the sea to the west, has been steadily increasing in size, and now controls a wide range of coastline as well as most of the navigable rivers" and "The political disruption in Tombula in recent years has caused a disruption in their chocolate production, which is to the benefit of Nova, particularly the duchy of Kigal."

Event: The King informs you that, "There is a man here to see you. He requests funding for a project of his. Remember, the treasury is not unlimited. If you choose to invest, you will have less money for future project." The man says, "Your Royal Highness, I have a plan: metal letters which can be moved and reused to print books. I need to borrow 875 lassi to assemble a factory to mold and cast the type. With this system, we will be able to create books in a fraction of the time it takes now and send them all over the world!" (You fail a check on Production + Trade. You think, "I don't really know much about factories. It doesn't seem like it would be worthwhile.") You say, "We are not interested. wink emoticon"

Your weekend choices are the same as last week:
1. Visit the Royal Treasury (?)
2. Attend court (+2 Yielding, +1 Depressed + 1 Pressured)
3. Explore Castle (+1 Lonely, +1 Afraid)
4. Visit Tomb (+1 Depressed, +1 Afraid)
5. Attend Service (-1 Afraid)
6. Walk in Garden (+1 Lonely, +1 Cheerful)
7.Play Sports (+1 Angry, - 1 Lonely)
8. Sneak out (+2 Willful, +1 Lonely)
9. Play with toys (+1 Yielding, +1 Lonely, +1 Cheerful)
10. Visit Dungeon (+1 Willful, +1 Angry)

The players argue extensively over this activity.  In the end, they decide on option 9.

Your mood is now Willful (Afraid 2, Depressed 1, Willful 4, Lonely 3).

Community Game: Long Live the Queen VIII

Mood: WILLFUL (Afraid 3, Depressed 2, Willful 4, Lonely 2)

Fatal now has Internal Affairs 26.56. You learn, "Your maternal uncle's wife, the Countess Nix, claims kinship to the old Merva line and asked your mother for title to the duchy. However, no one could verify her lineage. As a compromise, your mother named her brother Duke of Merva." Fatal has Court Manners 10.

Event: A maid runs down the stairs towards you carrying a towering pile of linen. (You fail an Elegance skill check. You pass a Reflexes skill check.) You swiftly step out of her way.

The players perceive this as an assassination attempt.  They also realize there have been two Reflex checks so far and decide this must be a critical skill.

2. Attend court (+2 Yielding, +1 Depressed + 1 Pressured)

Diary of Princess Fatal:

Dear Diary,

With the help of my Intrigue teachers I am making a list of people who want to kill me. It's soothing in a way. One day I will have my revenge. I am also practicing curtseys for the upcoming Gala Ball. I'm not sure who invented the curtsey, but if I find out, he's going on the list.

The players decide to risk all and attempt the treasury.
(You fail an accounting skill check. You fail a presence skill check.) "You try to talk your way past the treasury guards, but despite eyelash-fluttering, foot-stomping, and outright threats, they won't budge. Hmph!" (You gain +1 Willful, +1 Angry).

Community Game: Long Live the Queen VII

What classes will Princess Fatal take this week?

The players go back to their previous strategy of maximizing Fatal's intelligence skills.

By the way, you have 35 weeks until your coronation (I originally thought it was a full year, but I forgot about the mourning period). Before that, you will have to endure a parade and a ball at some point and probably a few wars and definitely more assassination attempts. You may also have opportunities to get married if you want to.

Learning Foreign Intelligence 15 gives the update, "The current Duke of Sedna is 26 years old and unmarried. He might be considered a good marriage prospect for you if you desire stronger ties with the domain of Talasse." You also learn Logistics 15.38.

Event: You see someone while walking through the gardens--the Duchess of Ursul! Maybe you should go and say hello? But she is not alone. Beside her is the Castle Priestess. They hold hands while they speak.

You say, "Looks like she's busy! grin emoticon"

You turn and walk a different direction so as not to disturb them during that moment. You notice something unusual. It looks like someone has just left the palace grounds by going over a hedge. A servant? A thief? Or...an assassin?!

What do you do?

1. Climb up to look over the hedge.
2. Call the guards.
3. Run and hide.

One player immediately chooses option 1.  Another player says, "haha I think that sounds like a way to get killed, but we can be daring if you like.  Meh. fortune favors the brave. Let's climb and look."

Result: (You fail a Climbing check.) The tress don't look like they could support your weight. You climb a statue instead, but it is too far from the fence. (The game totally killed me here. I don't know why it is being nice to you guys. Oh, it's your Reflexes score. Never mind.) (NOTE:  I don't think I was remembering that accurately.  I don't think it's possible to die here.)  Oh well, whoever you saw is probably gone by now anyway.

Your weekend choices:
1. Talk to your father (?)
2. Attend court (+2 Yielding, +1 Depressed + 1 Pressured)
3. Explore Castle (+1 Lonely, +1 Afraid)
4. Visit Tomb (+1 Depressed, +1 Afraid)
5. Attend Service (-1 Afraid)
6. Walk in Garden (+1 Lonely, +1 Cheerful)
7. Visit Julianna (?)
8. Sneak out (+2 Willful, +1 Lonely)
9. Play with toys (+1 Yielding, +1 Lonely, +1 Cheerful)
10. Visit Dungeon (+1 Willful, +1 Angry)
11. Play Sports (+1 Angry, - 1 Lonely)

The players decide to visit Julianna again.

"Hi Julianna! : ) My father says I can't have the crystal until I'm older so we'll just have to wait."
Julianna: There may not be time to wait. : | The world is full of dangers and you will need the powers of a Lumen to fight them. You cannot bei
ng training until you have bonded with your crystal.
Fatal:  :( Well, what else am I supposed to do about it?!
Julianna: : | The crystal is probably held under guard in the Royal Treasury. You are the princess; you should be able to find a way inside. Otherwise we have to...take drastic action.

Should you say:
1. I'll wait until I'm older.
2. I'll try to find a way.
3. What drastic action?

The players select option 3, hoping the game will allow them both an explanation and an action.  Haha!

Julianna says, "Let's hope it doesn't come to that. Try to reach the crystal. If you can't, come talk to me again."

You successfully survived to see Week 6!

Mood: WILLFUL (Afraid 3, Depressed 2, Willful 4, Lonely 2)
